Paphos Bird & Animal Park (Now Paphos Zoo)

About the Park

The Paphos and Animal Park is a highly popular tourist attraction located in between Sea Caves and Agios Georgios. This attraction is full of many animals and birds of every type such as, White Lion Cubs, Giraffes and even Camels. They even have a Parrot and Owl show where you learn about the animals as they do tricks. The park opens at 9:00am in both the summer and winter months and close at 7:00pm in the summer and in winter they close at 5:00pm.

Facilities

In Paphos bird and animal park there are many other things to do at the park other than admire the animals and birds. At the park there is a bar and restaurant. The name of the bar is the Macaw Bar where you can purchase a wide range of soft drinks, hot drinks and even iced tea. There are snacks available as well like ice cream and crisps. The restaurant is a traditional Cypriot restaurant where you can get meze’s or just a main meal. They also have a wide range of drinks here too, from local red wine to an iced glass of Coca Cola.

Another facility they have is a children’s playground full of slides and climbing frames. It is located just opposite the Macaw bar so that the kids can go play while the parents can sit back and relax under the shade.

The third facility the park offers is the amphitheater where the parrot and owl show is held. The theater has 350 seats and it is air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. The shows are daily and the first show is at 12:00pm and the last is at 4:00pm (the times have been listed at the bottom of this page).

Personal Experience

When you first arrive at Paphos Bird and Animal Park you walk up to the entrance where you pay the entrance fee and are meet by one of the staff member. They were very nice and spoke very good English, but there was no price list so we had to ask the staff (which I have listed below). They then gave us our ticket and told us the times for the next parrot and owl show and let us in.

The first animal enclosure you come to is the meerkats. The enclosure itself was very clean and the animals seemed very happy.

As you walk down the pathway surrounded by beautiful birds like parrots to the common wood pigeon, you come across a corner area. This area is actually where you can take pictures of yourself with lots of animals like a giant snake or even a little pony. Both the pictures cost €9, but with the pony you get a small ride as well. Also in this are there is a petting zoo where you can pet animals like goats, bunnies and even cats. The cleanliness of the area was very good, they had hand sanitizer at the entrance to the area and they also had a sink there too. There is also even a little room behind the petting zoo which has all the baby animals that are taken there to do vet checks.

“The Bird Park was amazing, next time I go to Cyprus I will go there again.”  Lauren, Edinburgh

“Paphos Bird Park is a great family day out, I highly recommend it.”  Megan, Paphos

By this time the first show was going to start soon so we went to the amphitheatre. The amphitheatre was really big and there were plenty of seats. The show was very good and the audience were spoken to directly by the trainers. The birds are very clever and do amazing tricks like for example one parrot drove a little car and another rode a bike!! It was very entertaining and the children found it fascinating. It is absolutely a must see when you visit the bird bark.

As you walk on you come across even more animals like flamingos, kangaroos, giraffes and even white lion cubs. The white lion cubs are the newest arrivals at the park. The both play together which is an amazing thing to see. There are many other animals that you see at this park. If you keep walking round you get to the giraffes, there you can also get a photo of you feeding the giraffe and this also costs €9.

Top Three Things to do at The Park

  1. Visit the Parrot and Owl show.
  2. Feed and get a photo with the giraffes.
  3. Visit the petting zoo

Overall, the Bird and animal park is amazing and a must see when visiting Paphos. This park is a brilliant experience for anyone in the family. It’s popular which the young and old and something that when I next get the chance I shall visit again and again.
