A new Indian Takeaway in Peyia, Paphos, Cyprus
It was a nice surprise to see a new addition to the ever growing list of amenities popping up in central Peyia. An Indian Takeaway called ‘It’s India’. At time of writing you cannot sit in or have a delivery but the service is still A1. I made an order at 17:45hrs and said I would be back to collect at 19:15hrs. I went back bang on time and there it was. Ready and hot waiting for me.
A side issue here is that it is 14th Dec 2011 and I was still able to eat this meal outside on the terrace looking up at the stars in a crystal clear sky and across the large pool on our complex listening to the sounds of the night. I was given free poppadums which were fresh and crispy as well as a delicious mango chutney dip with peppers and a yogurt dip which was also to die for. For starter I had Vegetable Samosas on a bed of fresh onions. They were obviously homemade and packed with filling. The pastry was fresh and crispy. Already I was very impressed.
For main meal I had lamb tikka biryani which was a fantastic portion that would easily feed 2. A separate vegetable curry sauce accompanied the dish. The sauce was spicy in a good way giving a great overall flavour when mixed with the biryani. The lamb cubes melted in your mouth and were very flavoursome. The garlic nan ordered to dip in the sauce was the type you turn to someone and say ‘that nan’s good isn’t it’. All in all a delightful takeaway meal. Great taste, great value and great quality.
Overall cost was 17.50 euros and it can feed 2 easily. It was heartening to see the women in the queue before me making such a big order for a party she was having. She asked if I had been before to which i said no. ‘it’s really good’ she said with a genuine look and how right she was! It’s India is also run by real Indian’s so it’s authentic also.
