Peristerona

Peristerona is a traditional mountain village in Paphos District, Cyprus. It's a picturesque village famous for its efforts to maintain the beauty and the traditions of Cyprus. Peristerona is primarily an agricultural village producing cereals, olives and almonds with its wonderful climate producing many delightful fruits and vegetables such as cherries, avocado, mango, watermelons, apples, lemons and oranges in abundance. The name Peristerona derives from the Greek word for dove or pigeon (peristeri). The church, St. Barnabas and Hilarion Church, has five domes on the roof arranged in the shape of a cross, a feature only seen on one other church in the island. Peristerona is always a very green village due to the lush vegetation. It all looks particularly special in winter and spring months and is ideal for photographers, artists and those who like to walk and even hike.In various locations around Peristerona there are many remarkable landmark churches. Ayios Georgios was built in the 13th century where frescoes of Saint Mama can be found and it’s still protected by the antiquities department. Churches such as Panayia Chryselousa constructed at the end of the 15th century with Byzantine and Gothic elements, Profitis Elias, Ayios Constantinos, Ayios Charalambos and the country church of Archangel Michael provide for a unique perspective of the village’s history.

The famous museum of Arsinoe displays an attractive collection of objects from the Byzantine period, including Byzantine icons from the 13th to 19th centuries, as well as wood carved ecclesiastical items, local and imported silver and metal artefacts as well as textiles. Rare books and manuscripts are also on display.Peristerona is situated between the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the spectacular mountains of Paphos Forest and the Troodos. Walking in the forests is a delight. Filled with pine trees, fruit and olive trees, wild flowers and herbs and vineyards the air is scented and the views spectacular. The nearby village of Steni (also steeped in tradition) hosts a coffee shop with wireless internet access and a very good traditional taverna. Travel a little further into the hills and you will find Lysos, which has a very good horse riding school and is also home to a very good traditional Cyprus taverna, with neighbouring shops and the more widely known Paradisos Hills Hotel which does an excellent Sunday buffet as well as a themed Indian night on a Friday. There is also a shooting club, mainly doing clay pigeon shootingwith spectacular scenery as a backdrop.

Heading back towards the coastline and you will find the small town of Polis. There is plenty of activity to choose from in Polis, whether you wish to dine in one of the many good quality restaurants, have a coffee or lunch in the central square, hire mountain bikes, quad bikes or maybe even a boat! The nearby Latchi beach is renowned as one of the best in Cyprus and not as crowded as the beaches in and around Paphos itself.

Latchi beach is famous for its clear blue sea, soft white sand and a great selection of watersports which are readily available. The watersports available at Latchi include diving, snorkelling, sailing, banana rides and a great deal more. Bring your UK driving licence and you can even hire a boat and explore the Akamas coast from the sea. Drop anchor when you feel like it and swim or snorkel in the warm crystal blue water of the Mediterranean Sea.For the more adventurous, you can explore the Akamas nature reserve and go all the way round to Lara Beach famous for its turtles and another wonderful unspoilt beach. You can also venture to the nearby villages of Miliou, Droushia and Panagia or further on to Kathikas with its vineyards and wineries.

Other fantastic scenery can be taken in at Cedar Valley and the Troodos mountain range where in winter, you can even ski! Paphos airport is 40 minutes away by very good quality roads with English road signs. Visit Peristerona (for a taste of the real Cyprus) and you won’t be disappointed.

''The villa was lovely, full of character and very well presented.

The location was great, easy access to Polis and Latchi. We really liked the feel of Peristerona and also how friendly everybody we met was. We had a great day doing a buggy and boat safari. The Watermill at Steni was very handy and the food was delicious (and plenty of it). The Old Town Restaurant in Polis was exceptional and we also enjoyed Moustakalis in Polis. The Island Bar and Noma in Latchi were also great. Takkas beach was also a great find along with the restaurant there.

100% satisfied with all service received.'

''The property was just fantastic - we have stayed in villas, in Portugal, Fuerteventura and Orlando before, but we were blown away by Villa Triteos, which was hands-down our favourite of all we've stayed at.

The interior was exquisite, with the large open-plan living space downstairs, the four poster bed downstairs, en-suite double and twin rooms upstairs, with the sun terraces to the side and balcony at the back of the property, The balcony at the back was perfect for watching the sensational sunsets, and then gazing at the mesmerising stars on show when darkness fell on the clear skies.

The kitchen was fabulous, with the dishwasher, washing machine, toastie maker, toaster and plenty of crockery and cutlery. We were curious as to who uses the cupboards that are 7 feet from the ground - my 6'5" son was the only one who could reach them! 😄

The bookcase had an array of books, which was great for my wife who is an avid and very quick reader, especially on holiday - she left the book she brought with her after finishing it, to add to the collection.

The exterior of the villa was just bliss to sit in from morning to evening, with the swimming pool a perfect size to splash around in and relax. The hammock was used by us all, very relaxing to laze in, while the seating and table were great to sit in for a drink and a read. We ate at the table by the pool a couple of times, and the table inside as well - we didn't make it to the one at the bottom of the garden, as we didn't use the barbeque facilities.

All in all, it had everything we could have asked for, and we were delighted with it.

The location was very quiet, which we knew before we went. We did walk down to the village a few times to got to the mini market for small supplies, and also went to the cafe along from it a couple of times. The staff in both these were friendly, especially Effy who owns and runs the cafe, who was very friendly and welcoming.

We loved the boat trip on the Nafsika II Boat Cruise to the Blue Lagoon. This was great, and very good value (we paid £16 each for 5 of us), with free white wine or fruit juice, and fruit (watermelon) when we stopped at the Blue Lagoon. The opportunity to swim in the Blue Lagoon was fantastic, and the water slide on the side of the boat was great fun. I would highly recommend this.

The 4 hour hire of the boat from Latchi Watersports Centre was also great value, with the 15% discount code supplied by you a great help. The briefing before going out was comprehensive, telling us all we needed to know about the operation of the boat, dropping the anchor, and what to do in the case of an emergency. The 5 of us had a great time, going along the coast and stopping at Manolis Bay, and again at the Blue Lagoon. We dropped anchor at both locations and went in for a delightful swim around, before heading back. Again, highly recommended.

We enjoyed a dinner at Moustakallis Tavern Restaurant, which was delicious and reasonably priced, with the owner "Mr Moustache" coming over to speak with us, which was lovely. Ww would recommend this. We would also recommend Finikas Restaurant nearby this one, which was again great food and reasonably priced.

Lastly, we travelled to the Baths Of Aphrodite, although we did traverse the rocky path down which was difficult for a couple of us, before finding the stairs afterwards and going to the Baths of Aphrodite Restaurant for a sandwich. Also recommended.

We were more than satisfied with the service provided by you yourself. A considerable amount of information, advice and even discount codes were forthcoming. You helped us decide what to do in terms of hiring a car, getting it delivered to the villa and providing a choice of local Car Hire Companies.

You also arranged for our pickup at the airport which was seamless, with the driver - who was very friendly and chatty - suggesting a supermarket open late where we could grab some essentials with our late arrival (11.30pm). We also arranged for him to come back to collect us when we were returning to the airport, and he was back exactly when we arranged to take us back.

Any query I had - and there were a few - was responded to quickly with the appropriate information. Thank you.

The owner, Debbie, had left us a note with important info, and informed us she would be over on the Thursday to visit. She came over and stayed for half an hour, telling us the history of the villa, and all about her family, and made us feel very welcome. She advised of places we might like to go, which was lovely. We had her on WhatsApp in case of any requirements.

The holiday went seamlessly. The villa was spotless and a fabulous holiday home. We spent a lot of time in the villa, around the pool and surrounding areas within the grounds, and had a fantastic time.

''We loved the traditional rustic look from the first time saw the property online and this was the chief reason for why we booked this specific villa. We were not disappointed when we arrived. The villa itself was very welcoming, well equipped and very well maintained. The grounds were fantastic and again very well maintained and very well equipped. Comfortable sunbeds, hammock, rattan chairs and dining table. The balcony areas were a favourite feature of ours and we spent a lot of time watching the sunsets from the main balcony each night of our stay.

The location was perfect, absolutely idyllic. We have been visiting Cyprus for the last 10 years, mainly around the Argaka, Polis and Latchi areas, The area is fantastic, a short walk to the local shop and Byzantine museum. The views from the villa itself were another great feature and did not disappoint at all.

We have always ventured into Polis for restaurants and have always enjoyed visiting Moustakallis Tavern, Finikas Restaurant, Old Town Restaurant, Also a few in Latchi that we have always enjoyed such as Noma, Faros, Molos and Yialos. Only a 5 minute drive away from the villa was the Watermill and the Steni Tavern both highly recommended. Our favourite place to eat during this visit was the Stone Lion in Goudhi, just a 10 minute drive away. Excellent value for money, and a fantastic menu. We had a traditional Sunday Roast there on the day we were flying back and it was amazing.

In terms of shopping, all of our main shopping was done at Papantoniou Supermarket in Polis, just a 15 minute or so drive from the Villa. We also made use of Byrons SUpermarket and the smaller Kiosks in the Polis and Latchi areas. The village shop, just a 5 minute walk from the Villa, was very well stocked and catered for our immediate needs. We have done a great deal of sightseeing in the 10 years we have been visiting, but would highly recommend the Blue Lagoon boat trip and a favourite place of ours the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates in Kourion. We stumbled across the Evretou Dam and had a great walk and picnic there. Again only a 10 minute drive away.

The service provided by yourselves was faultless. A seamless process from the time of booking to arriving back in the UK. Great communication, some valued recommendations and detailed instructions on how to get to the VIlla from the airport etc.

Our host Debbie (Owner) was fantastic. We were surprised with a substantial welcome pack when we arrived which was very much appreciated as we were delayed and all shops were closed when we arrived in the area. Debbie visited us briefly a few days after we arrived and she made some great local recommendations on local places to eat and places to visit. Debbie advised when the maid would arrive to do a changeover of sheets and towels etc and also to advise when the pool and grounds would be attended to. Both of which did not impact on our time in any way at all. Debbie kept in contact to advise on local events happening such as the Latchi Fish Festival, and she came to see us on the day we left to wish us well.

''The villa was great in all aspects, even better then expected. The host Debbie was really help in all inquaries and only wanted us to have the best time ever and she succeeded. We liked the area of perstrona it private and off the beaten path. Buy a short car drive to everything in Polis and Paphos. We definitely plan to come back to cyprus. All the best, David ''

''We had a really great holiday! The property, Villa Triteos, had a rustic charm that instantly made you feel at home and very comfortable. We loved the many balconies, the open plan living space, the stone arches inside and out, the spectacular views, the lovely private garden, the comfortable beds, the well equipped kitchen, the pool and much more.

Peristerona is a pretty village and a great base to explore from. A car is a necessity to reach the many beaches, local restaurants and hidden beauty spots.
We loved eating at Moustakallis in Polis, The Watermill in Steni and various beach-front restaurants in Latchi.

LetsRentOnline.com provided an excellent service and was really helpful in organising a taxi transfer from the airport and with car hire recommendations.
The owner, Debbie, popped in to welcome us a couple of days into the holiday and gave us loads of great places to visit and restaurant recommendations, which were all excellent and to tell us the history of the Villa. She had also left a welcome food parcel for our arrival, which was great. Debbie also sent us all of her recommendations via WhatsApp and we knew we could contact her easily, if we needed to.

Letsrentonline.com provided an excellent service and was really helpful in organising a taxi transfer from the airport and with car hire recommendations. We were really satisfied with all communications and dealings with them.

We would love to return to Villa Triteos next year and would definitely use the Car Hire services again too.

Many thanks for all your help.

Kind regards,
Andrew and Cate '

''Villa was excellent, clean and a good welcome back. Nice large garden with sea views in the distance
Quiet village location - no tourists! Local restaurant in Lysos (3Km) very good Greek cooking. And Finikas in Polis (8km) superb. Very helpful and friendly owner who visited us in the first day left her mobile to call if necessary. Everything was at the property you could need. Excellent week '

''Beautiful villa, especially the outdoor space. Loved the pool and all the different places to relax. The views were so beautiful with lovely sunsets. Property was lovely and cool and well equipped. Love that it was gated and all the trees and plants.

Perfect location with a car. Lovely and remote but a short drive away from places to eat, bars, the sea etc Loved going to the blue lagoon on the Atlantis boat, great walk along the Aphrodite trail and would recommend Paphos water park. We ate out a lot. Favourites were Water Mill and Moustakallis and in Paphos Duoamo.

Very satisfied with your service. Great communication and super friendly. Debbie was so lovely and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble

''We had an absolutely lovely 10 days at this villa! Beautiful inside and out with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The pool area is stunning and the views incredible. We especially liked how green it was. Having stayed in another Cyprus villa where the grassed area was basically a dust bowl, this garden uses sprinklers to keep it looking lush. It provided a great area for my son to kick a ball about. We used the bbq area regularly and it was my favourite part of the villa. When we are out we regularly visited the Watermill tavern in Steni as we have been there before and find the food tasty and the atmosphere welcoming. We also ate out in Polis (roughly 10min drive away) and highly recommend Finikas restaurant. We went on quite a few walking trips. Visited the Kremiotis waterfall which was quite an experience! We also drove to Smigies nature trail (not far from Latchi) and basically climbed a mountain! Fantastic views and good exercise! Debbie popped in to say hi and check we had everything we needed a few days after we arrived. Lovely lady and helped with a few small niggles we had quickly. She also allowed us to have the villa for the whole day (rather than the 11am check out) on our departure date as our flight didn’t leave until 9pm. It massively reduced the stress of going home! Letsrentonline responded very quickly to any questions I had (especially as we had to move our dates around 3 times due to COVID) I would highly recommend this villa for people looking for a quite, peaceful retreat. . ''Great villa, lovely pool & facilities. Quiet location up mountain which we liked. We found an amazing restaurant in Simou on the last day. Kids did a PADI course with Latchi water sports. We were satisfied with all service received. '

Transalation- July 2021- The villa is located in the small village of Peristerona. From here you can easily reach some sights. A small shop and a few restaurants are available. The villa itself has a very nice ambience with palm trees and sea views. The rooms can be completely darkened and are air-conditioned. The pool invites you to swim. Most of the time we used the loungers and seating at the pool, but the spacious balcony also offers a very nice view. Debbie dealt with needs extremely quickly. We saw a few villas on our travels, but the green ambience around the pool of this villa is really very nice and we loved it. The rustic style of the house creates a castle feeling. The pool is cleaned regularly and the water cannons add to the flair.

''Thank you very much for you mails and vouchers and sorry for the late reply. We were very satisfied that we booked the first house of our holidays with your agency. First you gave me the last input to take the flight from berlin to cyprus with my family in this complicated times. Thank you. The incoming process was uncomplicated and we were not picked up for tests.

The house was great with personal charme, we had great and lovely welcome package (especially the sweets for the kids and the coffee for us) and the garden and the pool were great for us. We really had a good time around polis. We also felt very privacy.

Now we changed our local place to coral place and the house we have is "cold and uncomfortable", dish basics are missing and we do not have mosquito protection as in the old house. we did not have privacy (the owner or responsible person for the house is coming once a day). So as you can see, we really have now the comparison.

We are planning to come back next year because of the weather and snoorgeling areas for the kids. Next year we would like to stay one week in the area around larnaka and visit nikosia and the second we plan to come to polis. So I am happy for the vouchers and I will think of them next year!

Thanks, Steven and best regards, Jeannette''

''The villa was just like in the photos and description, it was beautiful and had a lovely food hamper with wine for our arrival which was amazing as our flight had been delayed and late arriving.

The location was picturesque, beautiful views, quite and relaxing, most importantly safe and friendly for a family with children. We went to lasti marina to visit the bars and restaurants and for the children to swim in the sea. Bars and restaurants were all fantastically priced and warm and friendly to us, there was no pressure as we strolled to look in the shops and bars etc.

I can not praise ‘letsrentonline’ enough for their help support and communication at all times, excellent 5* service. Debbie (owner) came to visit us and was warm and friendly to us and my children. She responded instantly to tx messages ( one time late at night due to an issue with the pool )which was sorted straight away! Amazing lady!!

Nothing needs to be improved, it was a perfect holiday, villa and experience. We will be booking the same villa next year. We will be back to Cyprus the whole family fell in love with peristerona!''

''The villa was lovely. Very impresssive on arrival, the pool and garden were beautiful. We really like the villa, the upstairs balcony was a favourite early monring spot. Kitchen was well equipped and pleasant to use, loved the outside eating areas. Bedrooms were comfortable and having 3 bathrooms was very very useful. The gardens were well maintained and had a prinkler system to keep the grass nice. Huge lemons on the trees.

Absolutely perfect location. We didnt want to be in a busy area and this was just prefect. Quiet but with a local shop and local cafes. The views were stunning and just behind the villa was the most amazing lookout point across the valley. Also a a pair of very cute donkeys!

We really liked the Watermill at Steni, but we also enjoyed drinks at the local bars. Local restaurants were much better value than coastal ones. Must do trip is to the Blue Lagoon: we went as a boat trip but if I went back would also go on the 4-wheel things. A drive into the mountains was something else too: driving East from Peristona there was the most amazing scenery.

Service from you was charming and very helpful. The owner was lovely, she called in to see us one day (pre arranged - didnt just turn up) and offered a few ideas and information. When we first arrived it was a bit chilly in the evening, I mentioned it in a text and within 10 minutes her father was on the doorstep with a big container of logs. As we moved into May evenings were a lot warmer but it was lovely for those couple of chillier April evenings .''

''Very nice property, well equipped with a good garden and private pool area. Lovely quiet location on the edge of the hill village of Peristerona. Highly recommend the Old Town Restaurant in Polis, in a class of its own in Polis as regards food and ambience. Paphos very good to visit especially the Roman Mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings. Could not fault the service provided by yourselves. The welcome pack was excellent and much more than we expected. Debbie did say she would call again before we left but didn't (not a problem for us).''

''We had our best Holiday ever in Villa Triteos. It had been as quiet and peaceful as we hoped to find it in cyprus. The Villa is lovely, really clean and well equiped for our family of five. Debbie is a wonderful person who looked after us but never made us feeling contolled -which is a hard job- and was very friendly and helpful everytime. We were very sad that we missed her the day we had to leave. Peristerona is a tiny village and the complete lack of tourists was for us just the right way to visit real cyprus. We went to nissi beach (long distance to go) and it was a wonderful beach Day. Omodos was another point on our list and it was georgeous. I resume that Villa triteos is a perfect place for a very individual and quiet Holiday, also for couples and families. People who want to be entertained and go out for lunch or dinner often should better prefer places around paphos. Dear Steven, many thanks to you and your Agency for the always quick and friendly contact. Kisses to Debbie''.

The villa was excellent. Clean, well maintained, well stocked with kitchen equipment etc. The location was peaceful with stunning views. The village of Peristerona was lovely although we did not spend much time there. The Old Town Restaurant in Polis was pricey but perfect. The Chix Chox cafe in Polis was great value, quality and service. Highly recommend. Completely satisfied by your service. Absolutely satisfied with communication with the owner. She left her mobile number and even called one day. Plus she allowed us to remain at the property for a bit longer on the departure date as our flight was late afternoon. Cannot fault the service provided by yourselves, the owner or the quality of the property.

"The villa was lovely, everything we needed was there. perfect for families with toddlers/young children as there was plenty of play area and the splash pool was perfect! The location was easy to find and quiet. close to polis for supermarkets. We recommend Latchi beach, and for grocery shopping polis - papantoniou. Communication about our arrival and information on finding the property and general info on the area was all very helpful. Our host Debbie was so lovely, we never felt intruded upon and at the same time she was always available if we needed anything. loved having bags of fruit left at the front door. she was such a wonderful host, even sending our toddler and baby no2 who is on they way a small gift! As far as we're concerned the service and property were just right. Thank you again to you and Debbie for an amazing holiday! we look forward to coming again next year :)."

"I think the best word to sum up this villa is wow ! When we arrived our fridge was stocked with an excellent welcome pack. The villa is exactly as its described and the pictures just dont do it justice, this place is gorgeous. It was clean and well looked after. The owners are so welcoming and really make you feel at ease, they were very friendly and couldnt do enough to make our stay special. We cannot wait to go back next year."

''Great villa, pool and garden. Bedrooms were excellent and comfortable. The location was perfect for us, quiet, relaxing but close to Pafos and Polli, ideal location to chill out with a family and enjoy. The property was so good and location spectacular. The water park was great, there was a small restaurant down the road which serves great local food and extremely well priced. Great service no issues. Very helpful and great instructions / directions to the villa. Owner was very welcoming and helpful''

''The atmosphere has to be experienced. It cannot come across on any photos the sounds, smells and warmth by day and by night. The views down to the Sea at Latchi and the Sunsets are amazing and can be had whilst having a drink or dinner at the terrace on the table. Everything inside the villa is very comfortable and of good quality. The wi-fi works brilliantly and is very fast. All the people are friendly and the owner does a good job of looking after you also. The welcome pack was amazing and we didnt need to shop for the first 24 hours. There is a local shop with just about everything you need within a 5 minute walk. There were lovely restaurants in Polis but we also had a great time and meal at the local coffee shop in Steni. We hired a boat at Latchi and swam in the blue lagoon. This was definitely the highlight for us. We really did have a great holiday at Villa Triteos and cannot recommend it enough''.
