Winding up through the banana plantations after a short drive along the coast road from Paphos brings you to Peyia (Peigeia). 'Peyia View' has a delightful position on the hillside in Peyia overlooking the surrounding valley and out to Sea.
The village of Peyia (in walking distance of approximately 600m) is one of the most picturesque and popular villages in the Paphos area. Peyia is spread over a large area with the village centre having many good amenities including bars, restaurants, tavernas, shops and banks. Peyia is a typical Cypriot village. A beautiful ancient church forms the heart of the village while the narrow streets and alleyways are full of old and interesting houses adorned with colourful flowers and citrus trees.
The Centre of Peyia is still largely unspoilt with lively tavernas and friendly locals. You can also buy all your provisions including fresh meat and bread in the shops in Peyia. The early morning aroma of freshly baked bread, sweet and savoury local pastries and cakes coming from the Peyia bakery is almost too much to resist!
Things to do in the Peyia area include many watersports on the beach at Coral Bay, diving, Paphos Bird and Animal Park, horse riding, visiting the protected Akamas Peninsula and Lara Beach Nature Reserve (famous for turtles), hiking/walking, buggy safaris, 4 x 4 safaris, the Sea Caves and Agios Georgios area, sailing and many more. From Peyia the attractions in Paphos and renowned Paphos Aphrodite Water Park are also easily accessible, as are numerous archaeological ruins in Paphos such as the Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Archaeological Park.
If you want to get out and explore Cyprus' fantastic scenery, take a trip to the Akamas Peninsula, Polis, Latchi or even the Troodos mountains. The Akamas is an untouched part of Cyprus with unspoilt coastline and traditional fish taverns in stunning seaside locations.Troodos is the main mountain range in Cyprus, not many people know that in the winter....you can ski!
