Cyprus - Paphos, Agios Georgious
This is an exceptionally spacious 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa with private pool in the St George's area, near the renowned areas of Agios Georgios and Coral Bay. It is 750m from the beach and coastline and has sea views from most areas of the house. You can walk down to the beach in 10 minutes or less. The generously proportioned garden is private and tranquil with the road leading to the villa being very quiet also.

DETAILS OF THE INTERIOR

The property has a large open plan lounge (with double height ceiling), dining and kitchen area with chunky brown sofas having views of the television (30'' HD Flat Screen with Satellite & DVD), and through the patio doors into the garden and pool area. The dining area seats 6 and the fully equipped kitchen is modern with stainless steel appliances that include large American style fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.

Making up the ground floor is a very nice twin bedroom with en-suite facilities that include bath and shower. The bedroom also has patio doors out to the garden and pool making it a very private and self contained area.

Upstairs, a galleried landing leads to 2 further bedrooms which again are of a good size, the master having a king-sized bed and en-suite which comprises shower and bath. The other upstairs bedroom also has an en-suite with shower and cubicle.

A balcony runs the full length of the upstairs, facing south and affording wonderful views of the immediate countryside, over to the Mediterranean Sea with the beautifully architectured church at Agios Georgios making up part of the scenery. This is a great area to sit in peace and quiet, have breakfast or a coffee, relax and enjoy the Cyprus sunshine or share a bottle of wine whilst watching one of the spectacular sunsets.

DETAILS OF THE EXTERIOR

Outside, a long (pergola covered) driveway that can accommodate 2 cars leads to the front of the house and round into the rear garden area. The rear garden has been carefully landscaped and has a 9.5m x 4.5m pool as its centrepiece. The garden has been fenced to the sides and rear for further privacy and there is ample room poolside for the sun loungers, garden table, chairs and parasol. A smart selection of exterior lighting makes for ambient and warm evenings in the garden.

The villa has flyscreens and is air-conditioned throughout.

"We have just returned from a fabulous weeks stay at Villa Helian. The driving instructions to get to the villa were easy to follow making our journey from the airport a breeze. The villa itself is beautifully maintained with all "mod cons" and creature comforts. The lay out of the villa and pool/dining area makes for a stress free stay, allowing everyone their space. The aspect overlooking the sea was perfect and the first floor balcony was ideal to sit and watch the sun go down with a glass of wine. The pool and garden area is just like the website photographs with plenty of comfy chairs and sun loungers available for all. All in all if you are looking for a quiet week away from it all then this is the place to go to. My only piece of advice would be to hire a car as the choice of restaurants within walking distance is limited, but there is a regular bus service available. We drove to Latchi and hired a motor boat and spent a fab few hours swimming in the gorgeous blue lagoons. We definitely recommend it! "

"The villa was lovely, in a peaceful setting and is a cared for property. The house was very well equipped, for example plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils so there was no need for washing up between meals. The fridge, dishwasher and cooker were good quality brands, and there was a decent barbeque provided. The decor and furnishings were comfortable and contemporary, and we loved being able to watch the sunset from the balacony where there were comfortable chairs and a coffee table. It was particularly useful to have the option of air con or ceiling fans and the insect nets allowed us to sleep with the window open and just the fan going. There was plenty of suitable bedding and additional pillows, and thick towels. (The villa next door to us, also a holiday rental, was not as well equipped or nicely furnished and did not have ceiling fans or insect screens on the doors, or cushions on the sun loungers etc). My only complaint (and it really is the ONLY thing I would change) is that the mattresses on the beds were a bit too hard, and could do with mattress toppers on them at least. Other than that it was pretty much perfect and I would not hesitate to go back again or recommend it to others."

"We really enjoyed staying at this property there were lovely views from the balcony, the sunsets were amazing. The villa was lovely and spacious and so was the pool and it was very clean. It was nice to be able to walk to a taverna and everything else was a short car ride away. The area was very nice and not commercialized. We would recommend this villa and we would like to visit again"

"The property is exactly as it is advertised, it is as beautiful as it looks in the photographs and very clean. During our stay we met the pool man and the gardener, both very friendly. We had eggs, bacon, bread, milk, orange juice and various other bits and pieces waiting for us on arrival. All the information about the property was at hand and Steven who organised our booking was very helpful both prior and during our stay. I think a hire car is a must at this villa to get the most out of your stay because there is no local shop within walking distance and the local tavernas although very welcoming were very quiet, unlike Coral Bay that had a good holiday buzz about the restaurants. I would stay at this villa again, I have not been to many places where the environment has been so relaxing, there are some lovely short walks from the Villa."

"We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and it was a great villa for the price. Being big swimmers, we had a great time swimming at Sea Caves and Akamas Beach. We hope to be back soon."

"The villa and location were eveything we wanted. We have bought a villa close by and Steven was a great help in selecting this one in order that we could be close. The sunsets were amazing and we enjoyed many a glass in the back garden watching them together."

Review submitted by Lisa from Bishops Stortford (Submitted: 03/12/2007)
"We wanted a quiet hideaway for the 3 of us and that's exactly what we got. The villa is very spacious and nicely furnished. It has an unusaully large garden and it was great swimming in the pool at night. We hop to come back next year."

THE LOCAL AREA

Distances:

Beach and Sea: 700m
Shops, restaurants and bars: 300m
Akamas Nature Reserve: 1km
Lara Beach: 4km
Coral Bay Beach: 5km
Paphos: 20km
Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark: 22km
Paphos Airport: 30km
Larnaca Airport: 140km

In walking distance of the villa are around 6 traditional tavernas serving BBQ'd meat, Fresh Fish and local dishes of the highest quality. You are only a 5-7 minute drive from Coral Bay, Peyia village and 20 minutes into Paphos town. Easy access can be gained to the beautifully traditional village of Kathikas and you can also easily reach Polis and Latchi on the other side.

As previously mentioned, the beach and coastline can be walked to (going past some very nice and upmarket gated villas may we add) in under 10 minutes with a choice of routes and areas of coastline to enjoy. Agios Georgios has a renowned fish taverna where fresh fish is brought from fishing vessels that are stationed in the picturesque harbour situated directly below.

The monastery at Agios Georgios is beautifully architectured and is always a draw for visitors to the area.

Other things to do in the area include Paphos Bird Park, reptile park, horse riding, Akamas Peninsular & Lara Nature Reserve, hiking/walking, buggy safaris, 4 x 4 safaris, sea caves area, sailing and many more. Amusement and water parks in Paphos are also easily accessible from Coral Bay as are numerous archaeological ruins such as the Tombs of the Kings.

If you want to get out and explore some fantastic scenery, take a trip to the Akamas, Polis, Latchi or even Troodos mountains. The Akamas is an untouched part of Cyprus with unspoilt coastline and traditional fish taverns in stunning seaside locations. Troodos is of course the main mountain range in Cyprus, not many people know that in the winter....you can ski! It may well be the perfect location for a vacation retreat.
