Claire from Stoke-on-Trent said: "As soon as we opened the gates to the property we were hugely impressed, it looked fantastic even though it was dark. It was after midnight when we arrived, however, after another jaw dropping experience when we let ourselves in, we found that Theo the owner had left us all the essentials in the fridge and a couple of very welcome bottles of local wine. The four bedrooms are great. There is air conditioning, however we just used the couple of large fans provided, everything was spotless including all the appliances and we never ran out of hot water. I must mention the garden! We picked our own fruit and vegetables. Pool fab too. Would not hesitate going again. Kathikas is wonderful!"

DETAILS OF THE INTERIOR

Extending to almost 170 square meters internally, Villa Constanteras in Kathikas features stunning stone archways, original staircases (inside and out), bamboo and wood beamed ceilings, stone floors and grand double wooden doors to most rooms.

Modern conveniences include air conditioning throughout, fitted kitchen with appliances including dishwasher, washing machine and accessories.

The open plan living area includes chunky leather sofas, satellite TV and DVD player. The enclosed garden includes a private pool 8m x 4m together with barbeque, dining tables and chairs.Three of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, the master bedroom including a Jacuzzi bath.

Villa Constanteras has large wooden gates opening from the road into the villa's charming Cypriot enclosed courtyard and private pool.

From the courtyard large double wooden doors open into a very large open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area that provides all comforts as well as many seating areas for relaxation and dining. The open space is dominated by two large stone arches running the length of the room.

At one end of Villa Constanteras the master bedroom has a large king sized bed with double doors opening out on to the courtyard and private pool. It has en-suite facilities with shower over a Jacuzzi bath.

Bedroom two is the smallest, but probably the most appealing due to the double sized four poster bed and skylight window.

Bedroom three is also downstairs at the other end of the villa and features two single sized beds, access out to the courtyard and private pool and en-suite facilities.

Upstairs is the fourth bedroom with two single sized beds and en-suite shower. Doors open out to the courtyard and private pool and the windows give views to the mountain scenery and distant sea. A quaint and original staircase outside the property leads in and out of this room, to and from the courtyard and private pool.

"A really relaxing holiday in a peaceful old village with some fantastic restaurants and well stocked grocery shops Accomodation had everything we want on holiday and was very clean, spacious and thoughtfully renovated. Nice and cool inside even when it was really hot outdoors. The owner, Theo, was very helpful and is growing veg in the garden for guests staying later on in the season. We would recomend this for anyone who likes authentic rural Cyprus, good food and peace and quiet. "

"I was delighted to find the villa exactly as I had expected apart from the fact that it was larger than I anticipated! It was beautiful. A wonderful experience to stay in Cypriot village where everyone was friendly. The village is in the hills/mountains around Paphos but we didnt use a car until the end of the week. We had an initial problem with the hot water but this was sorted out as soon as we rang and the problem solved. Its almost a week since we returned and I cant wait to go back. Thank you"

"A lovely place in an ideal location. Villa is in an authentic Cypriot village but peaceful & private. You can walk to 2 mini-markets & several good cafes & tavernas. The house is large, comfortable & well equipped. The outdoor area is ideal with pool & lots of seating table & chairs for eating outside & plenty of strong sun loungers & 2 large sunshades. There is a very good BBQ & plenty of lemons & tomatoes growing in the garden. The owner,Theo, is very helpful: we had a welcome pack which included an excellent bottle of his familys home made wine. Although there are no instructions/information in the villa, Theo is available to answer any questions if you ring him & he lives nearby. We will definitely return."

"Beautiful villa in a lovely village. Owner very nice and accommodating - allowed us to stay late as we had a night flight at no extra charge. Photographs do not do justice to this villa. If youre looking for a quiet relaxing break then I would definately recommend it."

"The villa provides plenty of room for 6 to 8 people. It is very well equipped and we were well looked after by the owner who came a couple of times a week to clean the pool and see if he could do anything for us. We arrived quite late at night and it was a nice touch to have the fridge stocked with basics for the morning - and some beer. There is a lot of space round the pool, but it is quite private because of the surrounding high walls. The villa itself was very clean and well maintained. .The village is very traditional but there are 3 or 4 very good tavernas within a few minutes stroll and a small village shop which provides basic needs''

"Brilliant villa that was everything & more than we expected. Very spacious, all mod cons provided & great welcome pack. Villa has been modernised to perfection (in my opinion) where everything is new but is in keeping with a traditional Cypriot built house. Pool & bathing area were private & plenty room. The village itself is very remote but that is what we expected & was a good base for Coral Bay (20 minute drive) & Lutchi, Polis, Paphos etc. At least 5 restaurants in village & 1 small pub which was English speaking. Locals were a bit reserved at first but we noticed byt the end of our week they would say hello & even initiate conversation. Overall I would highly recomend this villa & hope to go back again sometime."

"Really lovely but cold at night in April. Great to have an open fire but if not poss, some sort of heating in living room. In hot weather the coolness of the house will be ideal. very helpful owner & agent. we loved the location among the vineyards & the wild flowers were breathtaking Friendly village with great tavernas Best supermarket in nearby Pegeia We found a great fish taverna in Polis Enjoyed the quieter north end of Coral Bay. We swam there & the water was beautiful. The ruins & nature trails are great too We will come again "

Villa Constanteras is situated just 500m (about a five minute walk) from the centre of the village of Kathikas. The village centre offers a good selection of restaurants and tavernas to suit all tastes, two bars (with Sky TV & Wi-Fi) and a good village shop for groceries.

As Kathikas is 600 metres above sea level, it has a good climate in summer a couple of degrees cooler than the coast with very little humidity.

Famous for its vineyards, Kathikas is surrounded by vines and is renowned for the quality of its grapes. Many of the vines have been in the same family for generations. Two very famous wineries open their doors to visitors, so you can enjoy the winemaker's craft.

Kathikas is also home to a donkey sanctuary and a tourist information centre. If you're a bit of an amateur anthropologist, Kathikas is an ideal location in which to observe the traditional Cypriot way of life and to live it yourself.

Kathikas' central location makes it the ideal base from which to explore Polis and Latchi, the Baths of Aphrodite, the Akamas Peninsula and the turtle hatchery at Lara Bay.

From Kathikas you can choose to visit a number of Paphos' best famous beaches.

Coral Bay is a short drive to a fully equipped beach with every type of watersports and diving.

Latchi has a delightful beach, and again a full selection of watersports. You can hire a boat at Latchi to explore the Akamas coastline. Drop anchor when you feel like it and swim or snorkel in the crystal clear blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

If you prefer a beach to yourself, try Lara Beach in the Akamas.

Even in the height of the summer its almost deserted.Kathikas retains and continues to re-instate its old world village character whilst encouraging selected new developments. The village square has a small taverna where you can enjoy a cool drink whilst sitting under the trees.

For fishing fans, the nearest reservoirs are Evretou and Mavrokolympos, whilst the nearest golf course is about ten minutes away at the newly refurbished Tsada golf course now known as Minthis Hills.
